VIP Innovation Competition: Video Parameters

PechaKucha Videos

Teams will submit PechaKucha videos, where the team presents twenty slides with twenty seconds spent on each slide.  We won't use a stop-watch to check the timings, so you have some wiggle room. November 5 is the video submission deadline. No submissions after this date will be accepted*.

Videos should address the Heilmeier Questions

George Heilmeire (LCD pioneer) posited that anyone proposing a research project or product development should answer the 9 questions below. There are 20 slides in the presentation, so these don’t have to map 1:1 to slides, and order doesn’t matter.

  1. What are you trying to do? Articulate your objectives using absolutely no jargon.
  2. How is it done today, and what are the limits of current practice?
  3. What is new in your approach and why do you think it will be successful?
  4. Who cares?
  5. If you are successful, what difference will it make?
  6. What are the risks?
  7. How much will it cost?
  8. How long will it take?
  9. What are the mid-term and final “exams” to check for success?
