This transdisciplinary design-build VIP is a design-build seminar focusing in Sustainable Industry Innovation for a more Circular Economy. This VIP will explore necessary changes in the Design, Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing and Operation of Solutions. Explore new value and business models that enable and foster a transition from a linear economy (relying on linear supply chains often starting with the irrevocable exploitation of natural resources) to a more circular economy relying on value networks that focus on the preservation of natural resources.
Issues Involved or Addressed
Unsustainable exploitation of natural resources and climate change. Induced challenges at local and global levels that can be addressed through innovation, focused on social, environmental and economic sustainable solutions. The challenges include sea level rise, flooding, water scarcity, food insecurity, inequality, insecurity, health, discrimination, access to sustainable energy, and many other topics. The focus will be on identifying the issues in specific contexts, understanding the underlying factors and implementing sustainable design solutions to overcome such issues through peace engineering.
