Virtual Servers

The VIP Program strives to provide a useful and stable environment for computing that goes beyond that provided by the normal academic and research IT support organizations. To this end, VIP provides Virtual Machines/Virtual Servers to VIP program participants. Each Virtual Server is configured on a server farm with production quality networking and equipment.  The current configuration includes:

  • esx1: Dell 2950, 16GB memory, Two Xeon quad core processors, 6 SATA drives
  • esx2: Dell 2950, 16GB memory, Two Xeon quad core processors, 6 SATA drives
  • esx3: Dell R710, 32GB memory, Two Xeon quad core processors, 8 SAS drives
  • MD3000 Raid Array, 15 SATA drives
